These fabrics were calling me, so I decided I needed to do a Christmas quilt. Now, a Jewish grandmother doesn't have much use for a Christmas quilt, but I do have plenty of friends who would!
I'll be making a floating-star quilt using 12 20" two-color stars widely spaced on the white holly background. The quilt design is from a lovely feathered star quilt in Nancy Johnson-Srebo's Rotary Magic book. I'll be making a few adaptations to compensate for the rather busy background print, but her method of making the fabulous Feathered Star actually makes it fairly easy.
Here's the first star, and it's definitely too busy with the square-in-square center. I'll replace that with a green print square to strengthen the star.
